The EPL title race and relegation battle

Post by Chris1822 on Fri Apr 17, 2009 3:46 am

So it's coming down to the wire once again both at the top and bottom. This is just a thread to discuss the race for the EPL title and the race to avoid relegation.

    1 Man Utd 31 +33 71
    2 Liverpool 32 +38 70
    3 Chelsea 32 +35 67
    4 Arsenal 32 +26 61
    5 Aston Villa 32 +6 53
    6 Everton 32 +13 52
    7 West Ham Utd 32 +1 44
    8 Fulham 32 +5 43
    9 Tottenham 32 +2 41
    10 Wigan Athletic 32 -5 41
    11 Manchester City 32 +5 38
    12 Bolton 32 -10 37
    13 Stoke City 32 -16 36
    14 Portsmouth 31 -14 34
    15 Hull City 32 -19 34
    16 Blackburn 32 -19 34
    17 Sunderland 32 -13 32
    18 Newcastle 32 -15 30
    19 Middlesbrough 32 -22 30
    20 WBA 32 -31 25

(the first number is games played, next is goal difference, then points.)

    It will be very interesting.

Liverpool are still in the race, and their squad will be better off now that they don't have FA Cup or Champions League games to disrupt their schedule. Man United still have two games where I think they could drop points (Arsenal and City) and if Liverpool maintain a 100% record for their remaining games they could end their title drought.

As for the other end, I think Middlesbrough and Newcastle will get out of the relegation zone, and Blackburn and Sunderland will take their place.

Liverpool have man u and arsenal in the run home so i don't think they'll get up.

i still think chelsea has a shot.

and sunderland WBA and borough will go down IMO

Liverpool already played their second game against united, 4-1 at Old Trafford. I'm positive they don't play eachother again.

I think the Toons will go down - they were very poor last night and the scoreline flattered them - Spurs should have put 5 past them.

Think Borough will go down as well to round it out (West Brom is obviously a given)

I think that after ManU went on that losing streak including the lose to one of there big rivals(L.F.C) at home:lol!:, they have hardly looked convincing.

    Man Utd will win EPL

West Brom, Newcastle and Hull will get relegated. Maybe Middlesbrough for Hull though.

Liverpool and Manchester United, it's gonna down 2 the last day of the season.

Liverpool quite easily should of won the premier league if they didn't drop points at home against Everton, Hull City, Stoke City and Fulham. But that penalty decision by the referee on the weekend 2 give Man U the penalty was absoulutely :suspect:. Gomez clearly won the ball and Michael Carrick's dive was absoulutely appaling. He is worse than Cristiano Ronaldo. That one decision has cost Liverpool the premier League for this season.
