what about capital fc...or capitol fc...

Capital FC would probably be too vague for the FFA's liking. When the initial North Queensland bid was being assessed it had to change its name from Northern Thunder to North Queensland Thunder because it was too vague, not specifying a specific region.

Hey guys,

I agree that Canberra Athletic has a nice ring to it. Original in terms of Australian sporting teams and not a silly name like Fury.

My personal suggestion is the 'Canberra White Diamonds'. The name takes its inspiration from the Uruwa Red Diamonds, one of the biggest clubs in Asia, a region of which any Canberra Club would be a part of. This I feel could help somewheat in ralation to attracting sponsorship from Asian based companies or for any potential Asia champions league matches.

'White' just because I like the sound to it, plus I feel that Canberra is a prodominantly white collar city which the name hints at without openly saying.

However, I can say with 99% certainty that any mens team will retain the women's Canberra United name, colours and branding. Which isnt a bad thing, I quite like it.

I also considered 'Blue' as it is Canberra's official colour. But I prefer 'white' just as it sounds better. Any racial implications you draw from that is your own perception.

You could also argue in relation to football club names white has Serbian connotations, but then again, any colour has those kind of issues if you do enough digging.

i'm opposed to most of the names mentioned simply because i just don't like them.

for me athletic but as mentioned it will just be united which is fair enough.

Man, I think it is pretty darn obvious it will be Canberra United. That is our women's team name so it will be ours.

I think a fantastic name would be Royal Canberra FC. It's a classy name and it's unique to the league, united is so over done!

It should stick with Canberra United like the womens team, plus it doesn't sound stupid like Queensland Roar or Nrth Queensland Fury. It's is a proper football name.

Yeah but Royal Canberra FC is like Real Madrid and other big clubs. It has a good ring to it and it's a great name!

I do not think we should be called Canberra United FC. I hate crap names like fury, glory, victory and roar; it just sounds so lame and unprofessional. We should have a real football name. Royal Canberra FC is a professional name.
