that would be great for the time being as it doesn't look good for the A-League4Canberra bid at the moment!!! So it would be called Canberra United and play at Mckellar or Deakin???

A team in the NYL is a way better option than the NSWPL, and more realistic. The NYL teams are branded as the A-League teams, I assume ours would be Canberra United. It's also completely linked to the A-League structure, the young guys would be seen by all the A-League scouts and it would make our case for an full A-League license much stronger. The NSWPL has no national visibility and gets no widespread media outside the areas that have a team. Not one single club has moved from their State level league into the A-League, with the QLD Roar evolving out of the Brisbane Lions the closest thing. A NSWPL spot would help our local players develop and would definitely be a good thing, but it's not a stepping stone for the A-League side. Plus, NSW boots the Canberra teams out of their comps all the time because of self interest and because we flog them.

Ok, both have their benefits. But the one that is most important is related to the NSWPL team- and that is the growth of support. TBH, not many people would avidly support the NYL team whereas with the NSWPL team you would not only get stacks more support, and interested families, you'd build a solid supporters group.
