Seems to be a bit of a toss of a coin.. I think we will get it because there is only around a month to go before they announce who will get the second team. Time is running out for the WS group. They have a month to find the dough...

^^^^^^

Lets put it like this:

If we were in Western Sydney's situation we wouldn't get in.
Whatever situation Western are in I am pretty sure they will still get the spot.

The FFA, will still accept them (probably) if they are still short of the money BECAUSE there is still 1 and 1/4 of a year to go to the next A-League season. They can get the money by then WITH THE HELP OF THE FFA.

The FFA, with al there powers will get a team in the Sydney's West, even if it means saving up for another year and a bit.

Next enpansion round will be ours.

I am just wondering that if the two bids are VERY strong: Canberra and WS, why not have 13. i think the only thing holding us back is talent wise and if we are going into it too quick..

That is where our beloved AIS comes into play.

I think it would be too tough Canb Ath. Maybe we would be rushing into it too quickly. I'm thinking that if we don't get in this time, we will get in in about 3 years time. So maybe 2013 season.

i wish, the FFA don't want a comp in which a team has the bye

i don't think that any of the WS bids are that strong, and neither is the melbourne heart bid (although it's hard to tell)

I got to admit, all of this talk of the WS and Melbourne bids being weak is just rumours.

i'm not saying there strong, I am just saying that all we are is just normal football supporters who know nothing because they are doing all there process behind closed doors. Yes, the Canberra bid is VERY strong, but we don't know about Melbourne and WS so lets just not say that they are weak.

All the talk that says these bids 'are weak' have just been coming from people in other forums, who think that because we have heard nothing from Western Sydney.

There is no doubt that WS will get the #12 spot.

I personally would like to see Tasmania get in, they've got nothing else to watch down there so they would get right behind an a-league team.

Don't mean to be so pessamistic to you guys, just calling it as I see it. Hopefully won't be too long until it's a 14 team comp

Tasmania wont get in before Canberra, that is ridiculous,

I'm pretty sure if Western Sydney does get the spot then the Canberra team will take Wellington's spot...

But i think Canberra ACTUALLY has a chance of getting the 12th spot,
There wasn't any socceroos games in Paramatta after all

My belief is no one will get the 12th spot.
two clubs in financial difficulties and the bar set too high at present.
This is trigger for the A2 league to appear sooner than later and Canberra has a big chance at this.
Smaller budget, still National Play and the FA cup style competition to keep the fans dreams of glory alive.

Na, it definitely will go to 12 teams but just not us. As for A2 League, could you imagine the crowds?

Yes, i can imagine the crowds. This wouldn't be Belconnen in the state league. I easily think 2 - 3000. Build supporters, start in a small ground. Remember the atmosphere for Canberra United with 1200. Once in an A2 league it gives us a shot at promotion into the A-League.

We have the facilities just need the cash. A team in the A2 gives us better options to plan for the future and will attract investors / corporates and sponsors because we are the largest regional with a better chance than many to succeed.

Better to start small and build. Preseason games against international club competitors.
FA cup style cup games etc.. will build our audience.

Look what we did with no team... then bring on the real thing.

As for the 12th team.. yes FFA would definately want it to avoid bye etc... but i don't see here it's coming from just yet.

There will definately be 12 teams in the A-League it has allready been said by the FFA, maybe even 14, but where will all the other teams for the"A2" league come from??

Many of the State Premier League teams are too closely related to the ethnic population and with the chance to be promoted to the A-League, there could be many problems.

I dont think an "A2" league will come for some time and when it does it will have to be from new, or revised existing teams.

I think the Canberra bid does have the support and ability to manage and deal with a team in the A-League, starting in the 2010/11 season.

well now the other two bids are led by a player manager in paddy dominguez, the other by a player agent who failed big time with the cosmos in Chris Tanner.

meanwhile we've got a succeful high profile businessman on our side Smile
