Suitable A-league team destinations? Empty Suitable A-league team destinations?

Well, we know that Canberra, Western Sydney, Wollongong and Tasmania are all suitable for a team in the A-League, but down the track we may need to expand even further. The question is 'Where?'

These destination would also be for teams in the "B-League".

So just who would be suitable.

Darwin? Coffs Harbour? 2nd Adelaide? 2nd Perth? Cairns? 2nd NZ? Geelong? Central QLD? 3rd Melbourne? 3rd Sydney? If I have left anyone out, just post.

For the Poll, you can vote for as many as you want- the ones who you think would be suitable.

That is a very interesting topic. I would say that Darwin, Coffs Harbour, Geelong, Cairns and Country Victoria. BUT only as long as they are financially viable. I honestly couldn't see where the support for a 3rd melbourne team in a 2nd division would come from.

Possibly a joint Ballarat and Bendigo team would work out as well

Yea, I doubt there would be a great deal of support for a 3rd Melbourne team in a 2nd division. I might change the 3rd Melbourne to a Country Victoria. (Bendigo/Ballarat). Any objections.

^^
as i said in the can canberra support 2 team thread, it's not about how many people there are, it's about how many people associate with the club.

and i should've said could work, it would have to be done properly.

just because darwin doesn't have an AFL team, doesn't mean it isn't an AFL dominated city.

and as i've said twice today already and once in this thread it's not about how many people there are, it's about how many people associate with the club. and i believe that geelong won't have enough people associating with the club.

Well NQF don't have football culture, neither does Gold Coast. It doesn't mean they would be a failure. They set a submission of interest of entering into the A-League a few years back. That'd be good to see them in an A2-League. If you are willing to put Coffs Harbour in the league, then why not Geelong or Darwin or Country Victoria.

These are the places that should be given A2-League licences if financially viable. never tasted top grade football, so their fans would love to see a team representing their area.

Can we please not talk about a 3rd Sydney or Melbourne team,

Or a second team for Adelaide or Perth, for a long, long, long, long time

Darwin, Central Queensland or Geelong would be the most suitable places for a team after Canberra, WS, Tasmania and South Coast...

But even Darwin etc. wouldn't be for a long time after the 12 are established.

Oh come on, no NZ teams either! Rant
