"Canberra" United
Wed Jul 01, 2009 5:05 pm
This has been talked about in another thread but I though I might start my own.
As far as I know there are many Canberra United players that go back to their homes when they aren't playing, the two seniors ones I have heard didn't even train:
Rhian Davies- Darwin
Thea Slatyer- Sydney
Nicole Sykes- Dubbo
Ashleigh Sykes- Dubbo
Now I think there may be more but I don't know. Surely this cannot be good for the club and the way the team socialises etc.
And even more concerning was that Slatyer is the vice-captain of the team.
I think they should either relocate to canberra or just leave the club.
thoughts?

absolutely totally agree. It is not fair on those who do commit 100% and train every day. None of those metioned are very good players and definitely not worth the effort of bringing them from interstate. Let's stick to local girls and those couple of senior girls who will commit and move to canberra and at least turn up for training. WHilst Slatyer was quite a good player, she didn't even bother to come to the training for the grand final and turned up expecting to play. NOT FAIR!!!

Yea, I thought Slatyer was good but if she only comes to 3 trainings are year than she doesn't deserve to be in the team.

Yeah Slatyer was our best defender we should keep her though would be good if she could make it down often.

She is only good enough if she will commit to the team. Cannot imagine how she got to be vice captain.

SOunds like Junna is starting to get his team together. I wonder how many local girls from last year will be invited back? I hope a few of them, cos they were a good team. Hope not too many of the so called stars from interstate come. Has anyone heard anything yet?

My mistake... the first post here states you can buy players on the 1st of July. In todays Canberra Times it says on the 17th of July.
BTW, Junna says he is going to get a number of players from the local league.

Do Liverpool's players base Liverpool as their home during the season and do they turn up to all trainings? YES.
That statement has got nothing to do with it.
