Who do you ACTUALLY think will get the 12th place.

TBH, I think it will be Western Sydney due to the favouritism of the FFA. You can see they are supporting them.

I am not righting us off completely but I just think it will be Western Sydney.

Our bid has ticked all the boxes and we ALL no that. But it is just whether W.Sydney's has.

I believe South Coast and Tasmania aren't going to be considered.

well you can scrap the south coast bid. i read the other day that the south coast bid has lost its legs and the people behind that are the ones pushing for the west. sydney bid.

I hate myself for saying it but I don't think we'll be successful this time around, and I stress the 'this time around'. IMO some of the other bids, particularly Western Sydney have too much sway with the FFA, and Canberra is not yet a big enough force to be recognised. But we must stand together strong, even if our bid for team no.12 is unsuccessful.

Why do you think the FFA played a socceroos game in Canberra? They were testing to see if we could get a big crowd and tick the last box. Canberra's bid is the strongest and I think we will get the 12th spot.

Canberra's bid is the strongest but the FFA are more interested in expanding into western sydney.

Also, Sydney FC are playing a game at parramatta stadium so this could be an indication that there wont be a western sydney team ??

because sydney fc are trying to appeal to the whole of Sydney by playing at Parramatta, which could well be the western sydney teams home ground

3 reasons put us slightly ahead:
good sponsors.
Government support.
Great stadium. 25,011 compared to paramatta stadium(western sydney 20,00) which looks like a glorified tin shed.

FFA lik eour bid but having said that like location and derby of western sydney better. hopefully they don't get thir act together.

P.S. Hi everyone. good to be aboard!

welcome millonarion, and i do think that's what we have to rely on now, we've put our best bid possible together but our best bid will get beaten by a half-decent western sydney bid (which is crap)

I agree. Off the top of my head I'd say our chances are 1 in 4. The FFA would love to see a 2nd Sydney team in the mix before us. I don't like it but I think it would be better for the league if there were a Western Sydney team.

Still, stranger things have happened. If we get in I'll eat my Cove scarf.

that's right our chances are one in 4 because there are four bids.

eamonn flanagan says that he reckons the WS bid's chance of being accepted are 1/10

It's not because there are three consortia in Sydney that makes me believe our chances are 1 in 4. That number comes from my belief that Ben Buckley and co would prefer a Western Sydney team in the competition three times out of four. Even if there were 50 bids from Sydney I'd still give us 1 in 4.

Apparently the Western Sydney bid is in shambles. They have people who just can't get along and they can't get the financial things right.

We still have a good chance but as we all know, the FFA want a 2nd Sydney team.

Maybe not shambles but there is a bit of disruption. Been said in a few articles by the Daily Telegraph.

i just hope that western sydney bids are really struggling.

i mean our canberra bid has been raising money for 9 months and we've got 4.3 mil, imagine how much WS has?

i'm really hoping that our bid is strong enough to secure the 12th spot in the league.
if not, it's still great that the league is expanding. showing that football is growing in popularity with the main stream here.
i just hope it won't be 10 years (like people are saying) for the next time that the league will consider expanding again.

^^^^^

Brettles, I doubt it will be 10 years before another round of expansion. If we see crowds starting to drop, I'm sure the FFA will look to expansion.

I think, if we want to keep the league strong, expand when it is needed and the teams that are considering entering are guaranteed of financial success.

Yeah shouldn't trust the telegraph but i've read from some of the bid leaders that the WS is well short of the financial requirements
