Round 2 vs Sydney FC match thread

So Canberra coming off a heavy defeat to brisbane 3-0, will they be able to get it together for their first home game?
result predictions, crowd predictions, starting line-ups and all talk about the match here:
The crowd if advertised heavily in the canberra times this week could be 1.5K, that would be so good.

I don't think they can do it next week. Very bad performance on Saturday. Defence was not good. Not possible to defend properly with non-english speaking player. Take her off - waste of money whatever she was paid. Put in an experienced proper backline of Walters, Kiting, Brush and Studman and then you will see some proper defence. Again troubles up front with strikers. Still not got any strikers in the team.

Lin was one of the only good performers on the weekend, as was Tseng. You say "experienced" backline, but I would hardly call the one you posted as experienced.

I like that team and believe it has what it takes to defeat Sydney. And comfortably. But they will have to gel together and play some exciting, attacking football.

My prediction is 3-0 to Sydney. Sydney are a very classy outfit this year and we don't look like we are gelling together.

Shipard very unlikely to play, possibly for another month, and Van Egmond away on international duties. Kiting to take her place.

I DON'T want to see this, but it is more than likely that we will:
----------Williams----------
Perry----Brush---Lin----Kiting
------CianM--Gill--NSykes----
---Tseng--Bissett--ASykes----
That team is definetely not good enough to win IMO.

Am expecting that Shipard and Studman will be ommited. Really that is quite a weak team but hopefully the strong support for the Capital Punishment army will get them over the line.

Pretty weak squad TBH. Hope to see this:

Studman Brush Lin Kiting
Perry Cian Gill Hogg

One thing that has totally surprised me is the crticism of Bec Kiting and the fact that she was only a late inclusion to the 2009/10 roster. IMO, she was one of the best last year and deserves to be one of the first picked. Good to see that she will probably play today.

I think that squad looks alright though I would expect Khamis to score sooner rather then later.

The crowd was 953, but the question remains where were the "fans", there were people but no supporters. I agree with those rankings except Tseng - 6.5, Bisset - 6, N.Sykes - 6.5 and Maciej - 7, williams - 6.
tbh we were outplayed until the last 20 when we were really firing bacuase syd went into their shell...why can't they play like that for 90 mins???
a fit Gill makes a big difference. Lidia... caught just off your line again and Bisset poor thing great technically but is not a wide player she has no concept of width 9which the attacking 3 players should offer). A. Sykes is an impact player at best let's be honest here

IMO, we really did not play terribly. WE have got to remember that we have played the two best teams in Sydney and Brisbane in the first two rounds. So it is not all doom and gloom YET. The lat twenty minutes looked like the Canberra United of old. We created so many chances, like through balls that were just not latched on by the forwards, half shots around the box.
This Canberra United team really reminds of the Adelaide United Mens team- got everything except the forwards.

Yeah the last 20 minutes was really good, some good signs there but the rest of the match we were struggling to make inroads into the sydney defence.
I don't think we were outplayed or dominated for any meaningful periods but we still didn't look like scoring until that sykes chance.

We won't get any results unless junna starts playing a better formation and team. Take both syikes girls off. Raymond and Bissett struggling. Hope Shippard can play some games. Again Brush the best of the team. They had better buck up nad start playing proper football. Won't waste my 5 bucks to come anymore unless they can field a decent team.

Agree with you there footballfan. We really need Shiphard in our team. She would be that missing link in our team, who has the expereince to be one of the best players in the league.
As for up front- deary me. Sykes, Raymond and Bissett is a terrible trio. We need to put someone there who can finish.
