with the season drawing near, what are your thoughts on crowd and army numbers?

i think it's realistic that we will see a dip in crowds to around the 500 mark for most games, this is still solid though and will still be decent atmosphere at mckellar.

i think the w-league has found a niche in canberra amongst young girls who have footballing role models to look up to as well as the die hard football fans who will watch anything.

thoughts?

Keep the Coerver kids there and count them in the crowd.
Locals girls comps should be given tickets every week.

Average crowd will probs be 650.

Yeah, crowds will dramatically drop off this year IMO. 600 average. I think the excitement factor has worn off from the Canberra public, which is a massive shame. The first season's average was around 1000, last year I think it dropped lower than 700.

That said, if they keep that HUGE poster of Grace up at Westfield, young men everywhere will be flooding to the games. Wink
They need to get more media exposure, even just a mention on the three major Canberra radio stations (104, 106, ABC AM) would raise the crowds.
Also, remember that big stars (Munoz, Heyman, Chappy) will be back, so they'll bring in the local footballers I reckon.

I dont reckon Amy Chapman will be playing as she is described as a Brisbane player on the Matildas site.
There are some good young ones that can replace her. eg: Bissett and Yoeman-Dale

Interesting. That said, the FFA has Michele Heyman at SFC and van Eg at Newy.

Crowds will stay at the same level as last year and that will be around 700. Hopefully Junna can encourage good football which will bring the fans through the turnstiles.

The team we should have this year, will definitely be capable of winning the league, furthermore brining fans in through the turnstiles.
