I rate them, but Newcastle will go above them for sure this season. They've got a top keeper, and just signed Mowbray, McDonell and Slatyer, plus they've got that bird whosouthside wrote:Interesting you don't rate Brisbane!
Should be a great title fight this season.

I suppose there is one thing you can say about Brisbane. No imports whatsoever, on my understanding all are residents of Queensland and then they export to Adelaide and Newcastle.
Compare this especially with Canberra ( Perry, Glohe, Cooper, Heyman, Blayney, Tseng) and Newcastle (at least 7 on my count) who seem to have relied heavily on non locals as their key players.
I would have loved to seen more of our young talent given a go here.

Alot of our team is local talent. Gill, Maciejewski, Veljanovska, Williams, Bissett, Munoz, Blasch, Hogg... All locals. Eight, in fact.
Studman, Kiting, and Raymond are as well, but they're off elsewhere now.
Both the Sykes girls live in Canberra now for uni, and my understanding was that Perry did as well (through the AIS if I remember correctly).

Also , is Chrissy Walters still playing? By far one of the best of our youngsters.

Not as yet. Did she play for us last season?
1. Lydia Williams (gk), 2. Caitlin Cooper, 3. Lyndsay Glohe, 4. Michelle Heyman, 5. Kahlia Hogg, 6. Caitlin Munoz, 7. Ellie Brush, 8. Tseng Shu-O, 9. Grace Gill, 10. Emily Van Egmond, 11. Cian Maciejewski, 14. Ashleigh Sykes, 15. Sally Shipard, 16. Ellyse Perry, 17. Nicole Sykes, 19. Jennifer Bisset, 20. Jocelyn Mara (gk) PLUS BLAYNEY
Only leaves us with 2 more spots.

I thought Walters was injured all season? I reckon Snez will get the nod, that completes a very strong line-up with Walters as well.

Long shot I know but here goes. WA probably won't have De Vanna, if that happens then probably no Gill. Not sure who they have recruited. There was some word Mastrantonio may have gone to Vision, if so = a big loss
Adelaide have picked up 3 good quality Qld players. Day from Newcastle, who is a better prospect than Glohe. Mahoney from Newcastle is also a very good defender, as well a couple of strong US based players and also Balomenos is back, great striker (matildas squad). Their young SASI players are vg and in the Young Matildas squad. Overall the depth of Adelaide should prevail.

its hard to see the top three being anythign other than (in any order)
Brisbane
Canberra
Sydney
The shortness of the league means that a single draw can put you from first to third, but in saying that if your sitting 3rd all year and draw you can obviosuly drop out of the four. Such a tough tight comp, which is good, but the league really does need to be expanded!
Hard to see where adelaide are going to come up with wins... newcastle could come good with their new signings but who knows...
honestly, i cant wait =)
