Ashleigh Sykes as a winger?
Thu Sep 30, 2010 11:01 am
The two years the W-League has been running, she has been fairly disappointing up front IMO. She needs to be more selfish in front of goals and tends to look for a cross, pass or to dribble past the defender. There is no doubt she has pace to burn, and she also has great foot skills. But TBH, her finihing just isn't up to standard.
So would a winger position be more suitable for her?

Agreed. Her game suits the wing position. And TBh, with the players we will have on board this season, I don't know where she would fit in the forward line. In fact I'm struggling to see where she would go anywhere in the team.

sorry - she is not good enough for the team we are likely to get. There won't be a place for her up front if heyman is coming and munoz and shipard. Don't like her on the wing. Pace is not that great compared to some in the team and she can't finish. Leave her out of the team.

Really not sure why we have to have another topic on Ashley Sykes this year. Not good enough for the team. Surely there are plenty of other players in the team to talk about and not fixate on her.

Agreed, I'd love to see her stay, but the club is struggling to include alot of players from last year because Ship, Heyman and Munoz are back. It's unfortunate, but to win the comp, you have to keep the wheat and ditch the chaff.

To have her as a depth player, which we are all wishing, would just prove how much talent we have at Canberra United. There were signs that she did have talent last season, but it was just too inconsistent to be considered a first team starter.
Winger would definitely suit her game more.

Who would you take off for her to come on?United On The Gong wrote:To have her as a depth player, which we are all wishing, would just prove how much talent we have at Canberra United.
