Yea I have seen that before.

Oh dear God. It is a bloody scary thought to even have Nick Threodorokopolous even on that list.

I'm going to be honest and say none of those options in the roar article excite me..

Isn't Gabriel Batistuta living in Perth these days doing some coaching?

Signing him as coach would generate massive interest, both in Australia and overseas.. Especially South America.

It would be a massive risk, but maybe one worth taking..

We have to be realistic.

If Canberra do get a side, and I personally feel we will in the 13th and 14th club expansion round, it wont be a big money club like Sydney, Melbourne or the Gold Coast.

It will be a smaller budgeted regional team like the Mariners. So you can all but forget about the glamour options like Batistuta, Roy Keane or a high profiel oversaes coach like Sydney.

We will more than likely end up with someone who is currently an A-League assistant coach or recently retired player. Corica I dare say would be a good suggestion and I also wouldnt mind Damien Mori.

I dont want to be a kill joy, but I think that's the reality.

It is really tough with the coach. TBH, I would REALLY like to see a foreign attacking coach. With the foreign ATTACKING coach we can see many benefits.

If we have an attacking style of play, Canberra will be known as the entertainers and a place where other players will want to go to. Also, if we play attacking crowd figures will be massive.

Have to be realistic here guys.

We wont be getting a foreign coach, they cost a lot of money.

If Canberra gets up, and I believe they will in the 13th and 14th round of expansion, they will be a small budget regional team in the mould of the Mariners.

If fact, Im almost certain that Canberra will follow the Mariners templte as closly as possible. Which means bringing in super hard working yet affordable players and a coach like the wonderful McKinna who makes his team very difficult for opponents (with much larger budgets) to break down.

Look at West Brom in the EPL, they tried attacking football against bigger budgeted teams and finished dead last. Where as Everton play the McKinna way, hardworking players without standout stars that work hard for 90 mins.

Its the way it has to be.

i don't know much about chris tanzey but let me just say i do know that for a canberra a-league team the first season will be absolutely crucial, we don't want to get that tag that we are "crap" by schoolkids all around the capital ala the raiders. i think we have an advantage however in that the a-league is relatively new and most people just sort of half follow a team in canberra which means that they would probably just jump on the fan wagon. but and i stress but only if we do well in our first season, and who is the most important figure in any club? the coach.

i don't know just how good a coach chris tanzey is but if i was on the board i'd be splashing the cash on a good foreign coach first season.

yea i was just kidding as Fozzie has always pressed: if you want a strong positive football culture you don't need marquee players you need marquee coaches.

Well concerning a foreign coach - how about giving Ghotbi a go, I know he recently may have joined Iran for coaching but he may not be in that job for long and he has wanted to coach in the a-league (http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/blogs/halftimeorange/the-ghotbi-supremacy-183884/) Iranians are usually creative which would add hopefully some flair to the team?

he sounds awesome, he is the sort of coach that every club needs if we want the a-league to be the best competition in asia. then you have the australian coaches working under them and they can learn and take on the job when the foreigner goes.
