When will we get an A-League team?

With the current situation i am really starting to worry about the prospects of getting an A-League team in Canberra. If it happens at all i reckon 2015/2016.

Your thoughts?

i agree 2015/16... ffa have realised that after sydney rovers arrive they need to slow down on the expansion front. GC utd and NQ Fury have been a bit of a failure so they will slow down heaps until all the other teams are stable both money and performance wise.

Yeah i agree^^

i think 2013/14 or not in the near future. the ffa want all the teams in the league quickly then let them run as usual. so theyd put canberra, south coast, tasmania and anyone else (geelong, auckland) in the league soon or not until 2020 or so

the FFA aren't stupid they won't let the bid slip so we'll get a provisional licence before the designated refund date for the bid in 2012, when it's for is anyone's guess but don't fret people, the team is coming just be patient

We should be able to get a team before Tasmania does. I'm certain of that!

i think south coast and canberra will get it in 2013/14

Not in near future. i can't see it happening for a while...which is a disappointment.

If we don't get a provisional licence by 2012 the bid's dead and we wont get a team (if ever) for a while. So much politics goes into it. They just don't care about Canberra.

Yeah i reckon , Tassie OMG as if they could get 100 people to a game let alone do they even have a decent stadium built for football.

From what I have heard, but do not assume anything, and some of this coming from Schimch@Capital Hill, the FFA have put expansion of the A-League on hold for the time being in order to secure a World Cup for Australia and for the security of the already struggling teams. eg. North QLD Fury. The bid is still on the table, and the foundation membership is still on there too, but it looks as though it will be a few years after Sydney Rovers have stabilised, as well as some of the current clubs until we get a team.

if nothing is going to happen concerning the bid until a couple of years then there is no point in having it

I'm sorry but I couldn't disagree with you more. The website needs to be up to show that the interest has not waned. Also if you can't access a site that is supposed to represent the bidding team for an A-League team in Canberra then it seems to FFA that the interest is not there.

I don't know how much you love Canberra John but we need a team and we need it yesterday.
I realise we won't have a team for at least a couple of years, but that is not a reason to take the site down.

I also think 2015/2016 unfortunately it's not for a while..

Thanks for the email Ivan. Now we can only wait and see what the FFA decide to do.
