Ideal team Empty Ideal team

All hypothetical, but hey it's a bit of fun and I guess it is indicative of the type of climate we would be throwing ourselves in to once we were to get a side. But an ideal team? using a mixture of players in their current situation and players realistic enough who would come in the future even if they wouldn't now (eg Carl Valeri)?

GK: Andrew Redmayne. No doubt could entice him out of a team where he is playing second fiddle.

RB: Jade North. Yeah mate.
CB: Robbie Cornthwaite. Time to return home from South Korea, son.
CB: Dino Djulbic. Perhaps could entice him from the Asia leagues. Was a quality player upon departure.
LB: Shane Cansdell Sherrif

RM: Stuart Musialik. We have to accept we would be looking at several State League players, similar to Western Sydney.
DM: Carl Valeri. Surely would be considering A-League as a viable option.
AM: Nathan Burns. Your career is faltering abroad mate. Time to come home.
LM: Panni Nikas. See Stuart Musialik.

ST: Brent McGrath. From what I am aware he is a quality footballer, yet is struggling to make a name for himself in Denmark.
ST: Steve Lustica. See McGrath, except swap Denmark with Croatia. Also is a Canberra local.

Needless to say that 6 years later none of those mentioned players would be likely to represent a Capital Region A-League bid. Carl Valeri as a foundation player for one season would be of greatest chance.

[Formally Nonno Gomes]

Valeri given his Canberra roots (along with Topor-Stanley) would make ideal foundation players. Like for all expansion teams it will be difficult to design a team that balances between big name signings to create a buzz and bringing back Aussies Abroad who are floundering in Malaysia/Thailand/Hong Kong/India or any other league that won't help their careers.
