Western Sydney Bid Overview Empty Western Sydney Bid Overview

Fri May 08, 2009 12:53 pm
Western Sydney

Western Sydney seems to be keeping very quiet about their bid and seem to be doing it behind closed doors. So we can't go into too much detail on their bid.

It seems like they are the favourite to get the 12th spot and by all reports seem that the FFA want them to get the spot. But their is one stumbling block in their bid said by reports...

There are 3 bids and the organisers cannot work it out and there is too much bickering. There is also trouble about stadiums... whether to play at Parramatta, penrith, ANZ or play at three of them. Lucas Neill has put together a bid, which will push for a Western Sydney team

A positive for us and negative for them, is that there was talk of a joint team with the South Coast. Which leads me onto say, that they don't have one of the required things for a team.

The Sydney FC crowds are absolutely shocking for a city of 4,336,374 . And there is no use for that "Parramatta is so far away from western Sydney". It is just like Belconnen people going to Tuggeranong with just some traffic.

There has been no talk about, support, money, sponsors or anything

I am sure the FFA, will make sure that they get there act together and have the best bid by the time end of June rolls around.

*sigh*

Be free to add on your knowledge of this bid

apparently it takes an hour to get from parra to the SFS though so there is a bit of basis for that excuse

according to google maps it only takes 36 minutes. It depends on what day Sydney FC play there games.

If only friday Night it would take an hour.

Saturday Night: 45 mins

Sunday Arvo: 30 mins.

i've had this explained to me on the fourfourtwo forum, what google maps says is laughable. it takes 45 minutes with no traffic and around an hour with traffic, and plus with most people preffering to take public transport it takes just over an hour.

with no traffic it takes 36 minutes. With traffic it takes about an hour.

I remember staying is Austral, Western Sydney and it took only 40 minutes to get to the Centre with a decent amount of traffic. I would trust google maps more than some random guy on 442.

i am sure google maps would be tested by a lot of people and then they averaged it.

It really depends on what the traffic is like.

BTW, why can't they catch a train or ferry? You can get them from Parramatta.

^^^

after a bit of research it is 300 km to get to Sydney from Canberra. and the average speed limit is 85 km/h according to the speed limit website thing.

So that is about 3 hrs and a half.

2hrs and 45mins????? :affraid: You're kidding. ROFL. You must travel at like 175 km/h then, with not a single car on the road.

I take this journey nearly every fortnight, like Tobster, and it takes me 3hrs 50 mins with only taking one stop at one of those toilets.

ROFL.

Anywayz, back on the subject, nice post P2BC, and agrre WS is really only Canberra's main rival. I honestly think that WS favourtism will get them over the line.

um, the speed limit isn't 100km the whole way through. On the way to Sydney you have to go through MANY towns it isn't 100 km speed limit.

Even on many highways it isn't 100km. Just check on some of the websites.

are you not getting this? of course google maps calculates from the speed limit which is why it isn't always accurate!

i take 3 hours to get there with a toilet stop in between, end of discussion.

Yea, but about the public thing... maybe it is a hint that they are doing it behind closed doors with the FFA?

I heard on this morning "Offsiders" (ABC sunday 10:30am) that 'out there in western syd they're starved of footy' or words to that effect. excuse me we are starved of everything here. yea we have a few rugby teams but so do they (Penrith, Parra, Tigers...), our bid should get the nod on the strength that we have good fundamental support and desire for a team just look at this forum!!!
if the FFA seriously consider west syd above us i will loose faith in this country's footballing authority.
